The analysis of the Landsat ETM+ images at Hariot glacier shows the collapse of the floating tongue between 2008 and 2009 with an area loss of 33 km2. The disintigration of the ice tongue was followed by a surge that ended in the calving of 4 icebergs ranging from 0.4 to 0.6 km2.
